Located in the hills of Asolo, one of the two Prosecco DOCG areas, Venetian Hills makes an expressive, high quality Prosecco. The family began making wine just after World War I, but only began commercial production in the current generation.
Led by Beth Moreno, Venetian Hills is committed to sustainable farming and small production, only making 25,000 bottles per year in a category known for mass produced sparkling wines. The general philosophy of the winemaker is in its respect and reverence for the lands, which in Beth’s words, “have been around long before we were here, and will be here long after us.”
While the vast majority of Prosecco is produced on flat vineyards, the vineyards of Venetian Hills benefit from the rolling hills of Asolo. Southward-facing vines receive lots of sunshine, bringing out the ripe fruit flavors with more intense expression than most Prosecco. The clay iron soils provide richness to the characters and substantial structure.
